We are seeking a Special Education Teacher to join our team and support students with diverse learning needs. This position involves implementing individualized education programs (IEPs), collaborating with general education staff, and creating a supportive, inclusive classroom environment. The candidate will demonstrate strong classroom management skills, adaptability, and a commitment to fostering academic and social‑emotional growth for all students.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with PPT team.
- Deliver engaging and differentiated instruction in both a self-contained and inclusion-based classroom setting. Design and implement lessons focused on 16 core transition standards.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to facilitate inclusive learning opportunities for students with disabilities.
- Use data to assess student progress and adjust instruction as needed.
- Conduct reevaluations to determine continued eligibility and inform the IEP.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress.
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders.
- Foster a positive and supportive classroom environment that celebrates diversity and individual strengths.
- Bachelor's degree in special education or a related field.
- CT special education teaching license (165).
- Experience working with middle school students with disabilities (Preferred).
- Strong understanding of modification and accommodations and best practices in supporting students with severe to profound disabilities.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Culturally responsive teaching practices.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
