Senior Engineering Manager – Civil Space, Structural & Aero‑Thermal (Onsite) at Collins Aerospace Mission Systems.

Civil Space in Collins Aerospace Mission Systems seeks an experienced engineering manager to lead a multidisciplinary team of structural analysts and aero‑thermal fluids engineers across multiple programs, from design and development to build, test and verification.
What You Will Do:- Lead a team of structural analysts and aero‑thermal fluids engineers, fostering an empowered, high‑performance culture.
- Provide technical oversight of detailed stress and aero‑thermal analysis of complex structures for human spaceflight mechanical and electromechanical applications.
- Conduct static and dynamic stress analyses using Ansys, Patran/Nastran, closed‑form solutions; perform margin‑of‑safety, fatigue, nonlinear, vibration, shock, CFD, and thermal performance assessments.
- Offer expert guidance to development and production programs.
- Develop and enforce professional and technical development, succession, and staffing plans, including hiring and performance development.
- Collaborate with Chief Engineers, Program Managers, Senior Engineering Leadership to ensure program objectives, policies, ethics, regulations, and contractual specifications are met.
- Recommend and implement continuous improvements.
- Degree in STEM field or advanced degree with minimum 10 years of relevant experience (or minimum 7 years with an advanced degree).
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams in a matrix organization.
- Expertise in structural analysis, random vibration and shock testing for space‑qualified systems, thermal management, CFD, and performance analysis.
- Solid understanding of material behavior in linear and nonlinear ranges.
- Demonstrated experience with project, program, or task planning and coordination.
- Exceptional analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in problem solving, coaching, mentoring, and employee management.
- Understanding of applicable NASA safety guidelines; capability to comply with NASA drug‑and‑alcohol testing requirements.
- U.S. citizenship required – only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
- Demonstrated record of success leading engineering teams.
- Experience with space‑qualified ECLSS, thermal management, or similar electro‑mechanical systems and components.
- Expertise in CFD, thermal, and performance analysis of space‑qualified ECLSS and thermal management systems.
- Solid grasp of spaceflight hardware design process and support information for mechanical and electromechanical component design.
- Experience interpreting and comparing test results to analytical models (test vs FEM).
- Experience with bids and proposals.

Salary range: $132,400 – $251,600 USD.
