  • Develop, troubleshoot, and optimize thermal processes, including hardening, tempering, annealing, quenching, and controlled cooling, establishing appropriate furnace temperatures, soak times, and cooling rates.
  • Lead pyrometry and heat treat process control activities in accordance with AMS 2750, NADCAP, and applicable internal standards.
  • Maintain and optimize gas, vacuum, induction, and other heat treat equipment through equipment tuning, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and calibration practices.
  • Evaluate heat-treated material and components for grain structure, hardness, surface/core defects, distortion, cracking, soft spots, and other process-related conditions, and develop corrective solutions.
  • Support troubleshooting of manufacturing issues, including warping, cracking, distortion, and material property variation, and implement corrective actions to improve process performance.
  • Develop, standardize, and improve welding processes and documentation, including Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), weld parameters, and related process controls.
  • Partner with manufacturing and quality teams to establish, maintain, and standardize welding and heat treat processes in support of NADCAP accreditation and ongoing compliance.
  • Investigate process and material defects, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions in collaboration with Quality and Operations.
  • Provide technical guidance on material behavior, metallurgy, welding, heat treatment, and resulting material properties to manufacturing, quality, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Create, maintain, and approve materials and process specifications, engineering documents, work instructions, material notes, and related technical documentation for aerospace materials and manufacturing processes.
