We are seeking an experienced and driven Outside Nursery Sales Representative to expand our Nursery Division throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont. The ideal candidate has excellent knowledge of plant materials and related hardlines, strong sales skills, and a proactive, customer-focused mindset. You’ll work closely with landscapers to deliver expert solutions and outstanding service.

We are seeking an experienced and driven Outside Nursery Sales Representative to expand our Nursery Division throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont. The ideal candidate has excellent knowledge of plant materials and related hardlines, strong sales skills, and a proactive, customer-focused mindset. You’ll work closely with landscapers to deliver expert solutions and outstanding service.
This position requires extensive travel throughout the region, including frequent overnight stays. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing a large multi-state territory and enjoys building in-person customer relationships through regular on-site visits, events, and trade shows.
Sales & Business Development
- Drive sales growth by generating new business and nurturing key customer relationships.
- Promote Northern Nurseries’ complete product offering.
- Manage assigned accounts, re-engage inactive customers, and strategically prioritize high potential prospects.
- Collaborate with the General Manager to align regional sales goals and strategy.
- Provide accurate quotes and support customers through the full sales cycle.
- Address customer inquiries and concerns promptly, partnering with Site Managers as needed.
- Partner with Corporate Marketing on product catalogs, promotional materials, and seasonal mailings.
- Represent Northern Nurseries at trade shows, industry events, and regional conferences.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of marketing initiatives and suggest improvements.
- Attend and Participate in Regional Association Meetings.
- Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging customer needs.
- Identify new product opportunities and make recommendations to enhance our product lines.
- Provide insights to leadership on market trends, pricing, and customer feedback.
- Provide regular updates and weekly reports to the General Manager on sales performance, opportunities, and challenges.
- Assist with internal communications to keep teams informed about new products and customer developments.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in the Nursery/Landscaping Industry, outside sales, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of plant materials, hardscape materials, and turf care products.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and travel extensively within assigned territory, including multiple overnight trips per week.
- Degree or background in horticulture or landscape management preferred.
- Familiarity with hardscape and field maintenance equipment (lighting, stone products).
