HIL Engineer – Windsor, ON

We are looking for an experienced HIL Engineer to join an advanced automotive engineering team supporting Driveline and Vehicle Systems development in Windsor. This role involves advanced simulation and validation technologies for automotive HIL systems and vehicle controller integration.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct and manage HIL/MIL/SIL projects.
- Implement and troubleshoot HIL IO mapping, electrical/wiring harnesses, and related components.
- Integrate and validate automotive control systems using dSPACE Control Desk.
- Utilize CAN/CANFD, SPI, LIN protocols for system integration.
- Apply diagnostic protocols and tools (UDS, XCP, CANalyzer, CANoe).
- Create HIL plant models with Simulink/Matlab.
- Perform systematic troubleshooting on HIL simulation systems.
- Coordinate activities with other functional groups and communicate with senior management.
- Prepare data analysis for senior management reviews.
- Travel to the USA for meetings as needed and hold a valid driving license.
- Master of Science degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET accredited or equivalent program.
- 5+ years of experience on HIL/MIL/SIL projects.
- Experience with dSPACE Hardware & Software (Control Desk).
- 2+ years of experience (including university research projects) in developing HIL systems.
- Experience with HIL IO mapping, electrical/wiring harness implementation and troubleshooting.
- Experience with CAN/CANFD, SPI, LIN, ECU Flashing.
- Experience with Diagnostic Protocols and Tools: UDS, XCP, CANalyzer, CANoe.
- Experience in using Simulink/Matlab to develop HIL plant models.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent problem‑solving and data analytical skills.
- Strong coordination and project planning skills.
- Proficient use of MS Office.
- Experience in the automotive industry with powertrain, ICE, electrification, and driveline.
- Experience with brake and steering subsystems and controllers (ECU, ABS ESP, ESC).
- Understanding of driveline theory and application.
- Knowledge of vehicle ECUs and their interaction/interface.

- Proficient use of MS Office.
