Pay Range (must include “per hour”): $42-44/hr
OverviewWe are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to support exterior automotive components (e.g., body panels, trim, bumpers). In this role, you will partner with suppliers and cross‑functional teams to ensure flawless product launches, strong quality performance, and stable production capacity. This is a hands‑on role requiring regular supplier visits, problem‑solving, and collaboration to drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Lead supplier readiness and launch activities, ensuring successful PPAP approvals
- Identify, elevate, and resolve supplier quality issues with clear “date to green” recovery plans
- Conduct on‑site supplier evaluations and manufacturing process reviews
- Support and validate supplier capacity studies to prevent production constraints
- Review and enforce compliance with PPAP, APQP, and quality standards
- Drive root‑cause analysis and corrective actions (8D methodology)
- Ensure robust quality planning through PFMEA, Control Plans, and SPC
- Monitor supplier performance metrics (quality, delivery, capacity)
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives (lean manufacturing, benchmarking, defect reduction)
- Support new supplier assessments and risk mitigation strategies
- Partner with internal teams (engineering, STA, manufacturing) to resolve issues quickly
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
- Experience in manufacturing processes (machining, automotive components, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of quality systems and tools PPAP, APQP (AIAG standards), PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, Gage R&R;
- Experience with problem‑solving methodologies (8D, root cause analysis)
- Project management and supplier‑facing experience
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Automotive industry experience, especially with body exterior components
- Experience supporting current program launches
- Background in manufacturing, maintenance, or quality operations
- Experience handling supplier crisis or high‑risk situations
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
- Ability to travel and work directly at supplier sites
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- A proactive, hands‑on approach to driving results
- Be at the center of vehicle launches and supplier performance
- Work on high‑impact, visible projects
- Collaborate with global teams and industry‑leading suppliers
