Position: Test Engineer (Data Acquisition Engineer) (Windsor)

The Data Acquisition Engineer - RTS will be responsible for setting up and conducting data acquisition using various data acquisition systems.

This involves coordinating test specimen build, setting up data acquisition systems, data processing, and communicating with stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Have a detailed understanding of data acquisition systems, transducers, and CAN communication, and how they interoperate.
  • Operate and conduct data acquisition at client proving grounds.
  • Apply a thorough understanding of damage severity concepts.
  • Lead projects from start to finish with minimal guidance, demonstrating process and detail orientation.
  • Communicate and lead bargaining unit mechanics in performing vehicle instrumentation, part strain gauging, and part changes.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with the RTS mechanic supervisor, union, management, maintenance and facilities teams.
Requirements
  • Experience with data acquisition equipment and transducers such as wheel force transducers, accelerometers, load cells, and strain gauges.
  • Understanding of damage severity analysis and stress‑life/load‑life calculations with NCode, MTS RPC Pro, and Flex Test (preferred).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, VBA).
  • Strong time‑management, leadership, planning, and follow‑up skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of engineering experience in a testing environment within the automotive industry.
  • Will consider new graduates with related co‑op experience.
  • Ability to work weekdays, overtime, and occasional weekends.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; required to operate a company vehicle.
  • Required to travel domestically and internationally 10–20% of the time.
  • Ability to qualify for a US TN visa or similar.
Preferred
  • Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Aeronautical Engineering.
  • Experience with nCode and Somat eDAQ equipment.
  • Prior CANBUS experience (e.g., CANalyzer).
  • Knowledge of strain gauge theory and application.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited university.
