OverviewOversee the dealership’s finance and insurance operations, working closely with customers and lenders to offer financing options, ensure credit approvals, and finalize vehicle sales. Develop and present financing packages, manage insurance products, and maintain compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with the sales team to optimize profitability by providing competitive finance terms and nurturing relationships with financial institutions.
Responsibilities- Explain and demonstrate financial options to customers.
- Deal directly with lenders and financial institutes.
- Prepare and document all paperwork for final delivery.
- Meet and exceed sales goals by selling extended products such as protection packages, extended warranties, life and accident/health insurance, and environmental protection packages.
- Adhere to a standard of professional ethics and treat customers with respect.
- Be knowledgeable of provincial regulations regarding finance and the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
- Interact with appropriate departments.
- Structure deals in accordance with lender and dealership guidelines.
- Book out deals accurately.
- Never misrepresent equipment.
- Perform credit interviews and prepare credit applications.
- Verify accuracy of all information on credit applications and submit to lenders.
- Maintain confidentiality of customer information.
- Sell credit insurance and service contracts.
- Maintain good lender relations.
- Maintain a lender guide of programs currently in use and acquire working knowledge of them.
- Analyze credit reports and recognize conventional deals for appropriate turn‑over.
- Maintain dead files for inactive deals.
- Overcome objections of prospective customers.
- 3–5 years experience in the automotive business.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience at an OEM‑branded dealership.
- Excellent understanding of sales, finance, and management.
- Experience and working relationships with financial institutions.
- Proven record of performance with set goals.
- Excellent oral, written, and listening skills.
- Judgment and decision‑making skills to weigh costs and benefits of actions.
- Ability to identify measures of performance and take corrective action.
- Efficient knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, email software, and the Internet.
- Ability to read, understand, and calculate banking figures such as discounts, interest rates, percentages, and commission.
- Prioritization skills necessary to use time effectively and set action plans.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Bilingual language skills in French and English are preferred.
