The CNC Boring Mill Operator sets up, operates, and maintains a CNC horizontal boring mill to machine precision steel components and plates according to specifications.

• Set up and operate CNC horizontal boring mills to machine steel plates, blocks, and components to precise tolerances
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to determine machining requirements
• Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and materials
• Perform offset adjustments, tool changes, and program edits as needed
• Inspect parts using precision measuring instruments
• Verify dimensions and surface finishes meet specifications and quality standards
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring safe operation of equipment
• Perform routine maintenance and report any mechanical issues to supervision
• Collaborate with supervisors, quality inspectors, and other operators to meet production goals and maintain accuracy
• Record production data and complete necessary documentation

• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience operating and programming CNC boring mills or large CNC machining centers
• Experience in 2D machining
• Proficient in Fusion 360
• Strong understanding of machining processes, G‑codes, and setup procedures
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings
• Experience with Heidenhain control
• Proficient with measuring tools and precision inspection techniques
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment

• Experience with large steel or heavy industrial parts
• Knowledge of manual machining operations
• Forklift or overhead crane certification
• Familiarity with tooling selection, feeds and speeds, and machining optimization
