Sauve’s RONA Home Centre is looking for a reliable and hands‑on Mill Shop Operator to join our team. This position is responsible for working in our mill shop, where we cut, prepare, and build a variety of wood products for customers, contractors, and internal store needs.
The ideal candidate is someone who is comfortable working with wood, measuring accurately, using shop tools safely, and taking pride in clean, practical work. This role is a valuable fit for someone with experience in a woodshop, lumber yard, construction, carpentry, or general hands‑on production environment.
Responsibilities- Cutting and preparing wood products such as stakes, bridging, blocking, and other lumber materials.
- Producing oak stair treads/steps and small custom wood projects as required.
- Measuring, marking, cutting, sanding, and assembling wood materials accurately.
- Reading basic measurements, work orders, customer requests, and shop instructions.
- Operating shop equipment and tools safely and responsibly.
- Keeping the mill shop clean, organized, and safe.
- Selecting appropriate lumber/materials for each job.
- Experience working with wood, lumber, construction materials, or shop tools.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and stay productive without constant supervision.
- Good problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to lift and move lumber and materials as required.
- Good communication skills.
- A strong focus on safety, cleanliness, and quality.
- Reliability and a good work ethic.
- Previous experience in a mill shop, lumber yard, cabinet shop, stair shop, or carpentry setting.
- Experience cutting stair treads, stakes, bridging, blocking, or custom wood pieces.
- Forklift experience.
- Knowledge of lumber species, dimensions, and basic building materials.
- Experience working with contractors or customer orders.
This position involves standing, lifting, bending, carrying lumber, handling wood materials, and working in a shop environment. The candidate must be comfortable with physical, hands‑on work throughout the day.

This person should be able to take a request, understand the measurements, make accurate cuts, and produce clean finished work. The right candidate does not need to be a master carpenter, but they must care about doing the job properly and safely.
