Job Summary:
The Team Member is responsible for interacting with customers and team members, supporting selling initiatives and performing assigned tasks while delivering a Legendary Customer Experience.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Work scheduled shifts and have the ability to work varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as dictated by business needs.
- Deliver on our promise of Legendary Customer Service through GURA:
Greet the Customer, uncover Customer's Needs & Wants, recommend Product Solutions, ask to add value & appreciate the customer. - Operate cash register/computer following cash handling procedures as established by Tractor Supply Company.
- Recovery of merchandise, participate in mandatory freight process, complete Plan-o-gram procedures (merchandising, sets, and resets).
- Assemble merchandise, perform janitorial duties, execute price changes/markdowns.
- Operate forklift (unless under the age of 18) and operate cardboard baler (unless under the age of 18).
- Assist customers with loading purchases.
- Ensure the customer has a Legendary shopping experience that differentiates from the competition.
- Ensure the safety and well‑being of birds; sanitize and maintain poultry holding tanks and care for birds as required.
- Complete all documentation associated with any of the above duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
No experience required. Retail experience and/or farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge is strongly preferred.
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, but not required. Team Members must be able to read, write and count accurately.
Preferred skills:
Farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge; strong communication, problem‑solving, basic computer skills, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to resolve issues ethically with minimal conflict.
Working environment is generally indoor with moderate noise. Indoor hard surfaces (concrete, asphalt). Lighting and temperature adequate. Shift lengths vary, generally no less than 4 hours and may exceed 8 hours. Promote a safe and productive work environment for team members and customers and adhere to company safety training and guidelines.
Physical Requirements- Move and transfer merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds; push and pull loads up to 2,000 pounds with appropriate equipment.
- Occasionally lift or reach overhead.
- Frequently stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders.
- Move throughout the store for entire shift.
- Safely access all store areas (selling floor, side lot, stock area, register area).
- Operate and use all equipment necessary: dolly, handtruck, forklift, baler, computer, cash register, etc. (non‑applicable for under 18).
- Constantly operate store equipment such as computer, cash register, and other equipment.
- Read, write and count accurately for documentation.
- Use strong written and verbal communication to communicate effectively with team members.
- Process information/merchandise through point‑of‑sale system.
- Handle and be in contact with birds/poultry.
- Successfully complete required training and certification (e.g., propane dispensing if applicable).
