Job Description & How to Apply Below
WHO WE ARE
When it comes to health, we’re always looking for ways to push for better. It’s why we were founded in the first place. In 1957, our founder, pharmacist William Wilkinson, witnessed a mother sacrifice her health by forgoing her own medicine to pay for her sick daughter’s prescription. He introduced North America’s first prepaid drug plan, and Green Shield was born as a non-profit with a mission to support better health for all Canadians.
We aren’t just a health and benefits company. We’re the only non-profit social enterprise that brings worlds of coverage and care together, all in one place. We’re noble challengers, purposefully building a better way and we need the best people to help us create a more holistic approach that takes care of the mind and body. Our mission is to create better health for all Canadians, and we know that starts with our employees.

The Director, Finance Business Partner is a senior strategic advisor accountable for shaping financial performance, decision quality, and value creation across the Payer portfolio, including Insurance, Benefits Administration, Third Party Administration, and Claims Adjudication. Operating at the intersection of strategy, performance, and finance, this role partners closely with the EVP and senior leaders to frame decisions, challenge assumptions, assess trade‑offs, and align priorities to enterprise objectives.
The role brings an enterprise‑wide, forward‑looking perspective—connecting pricing, claims trends, margin, cost, risk, and reinsurance considerations to strategic choices and performance outcomes.

Governance, Integration & Operating Rhythm – Embed financial discipline, transparency, and integrated planning into leadership routines and governance forums, ensuring decisions are informed by sound analysis, clear accountability, and enterprise priorities.
Early Day Objectives & Outcomes – Establish a clear performance baseline and strengthen visibility into the financial and insurance drivers that matter most, improve forecasting, decision support, and leadership insight by aligning financial analysis more closely to business realities and emerging trends, and identify and begin advancing priority actions that improve performance, sharpen accountability, and support value creation across the portfolio.
Decision Authority & Scope – Lead financial planning, performance insight, and strategic advisory across the assigned portfolio, shaping priorities, targets, and decision frameworks while influencing enterprise decisions through structured insight and challenge, with execution accountability remaining with business leaders.
