Our client is seeking a Director of Finance to join their leadership team. Reporting to senior executive leadership, this role will be responsible for overseeing the organization's finance and accounting function while providing strategic financial guidance to support continued growth and operational performance. The successful candidate will play a key role in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, operational finance, treasury management, and business planning while partnering closely with leaders across the organization.
Principal tasks and responsibilities include:
Lead all month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
Oversee the preparation of financial statements, management reporting packages, and executive-level financial analysis
Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and long-range financial plans
Partner with operations, supply chain, and executive leadership to drive profitability, efficiency, and business performance
Provide oversight and analysis related to inventory accounting, manufacturing costs, standard costing, and margin improvement initiatives
Lead the annual audit process and act as the primary liaison with external auditors and advisors
Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards, corporate policies, and internal control requirements
Manage treasury activities, banking relationships, working capital, and cash management initiatives
Support corporate tax planning, compliance, and reporting activities
Develop financial and operational KPIs to support informed business decision-making
Lead and mentor a high-performing finance and accounting team
Drive process improvement initiatives focused on reporting efficiency, automation, and financial controls
Provide strategic financial analysis and recommendations to support business growth, capital investments, and operational initiatives
Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic planning and organizational objectives
Qualifications and pre-requisites:
CPA designation required
10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibilities
Experience with in a manufacturing, industrial, consumer products, or related environment
Strong background in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, and audit management
Experience supporting operational leaders with financial analysis and performance improvement initiatives
Strong understanding of inventory accounting, standard costing, and manufacturing finance
Advanced ERP systems experience and strong Microsoft Excel skills
Demonstrated ability to influence decision-making across multiple levels of an organization
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on execution
