Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director, Fleet & Facility Development, this position is responsible for carrying out planning, scheduling, monitoring and supervisory activities as it relates to the inspection, maintenance and repair of all Transit facilities and equipment. Will investigate and participate in maintenance equipment acquisitions. Supervise facility maintenance staff and contractors to ensure proper facility repair.

Responsible for recruitment, training, supervision, discipline and performance appraisals of staff. Oversight of fleet and facility computerized maintenance management system including inventory control of the stockroom, and all related maintenance items, tools and equipment.

Analyze data to develop equipment replacement and life cycle cost schedules.

Assist with all technology projects that affect transit facilities and equipment. Develop and implement appropriate programs, policies and procedures for all facility operations.

Ensures compliance with all service and maintenance agreements.

Assist in the preparation and control of the maintenance facility budget and authorizes facility expenditures.

Initiate and monitor the preventative maintenance programs and ensure that work areas are properly and safely maintained.

Perform equipment safety inspections and research equipment and facility related products as required.

Responsible for the development and implementation of preventative maintenance programs for all facilities.

Responsible for maintenance of all bus terminals.

Interpret and implement collective agreements with respect to facility maintenance area ensuring that resources are utilized efficiently.

Assist with preparing reports gathered from the Fleet Management System.

Facilitate and lead corporate projects and initiatives to ensure project scope and objectives are being met by using project management standards and methodologies.

Ensure effective communication on relevant project deliverables. Ensure familiarity and compliance with all provincial safety legislation and corporation safety policies and procedures.

Assist and cover vacancies in the maintenance area as required.

Will ensure compliance with corporate health and safety program and legislation. Will perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

Must have a post-secondary community college diploma in Engineering, Business, Computer Science or related field or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and more than five (5) years of experience within a commercial/institutional or industrial environment in building environment systems, property and/or facility maintenance, building codes, risk and liability and human resource management.

Must hold and maintain a current, valid and lawful Class ‘G’ Driver’s license in…
