    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Reporting to the Manager, Process Engineering and Maintenance, this position will be responsible for:
    Overseeing the Wastewater Treatment/Collection Operator training, licence progression and retention, and to ensure operators are properly trained in preventative maintenance duties and operations.

    Developing, implementing, and monitoring a training program which will include process operations, preventative maintenance tasks and required compliance.

    Implementing a standardized and monitored training program to ensure Pollution Control has skilled and licenced staff available to operate and maintain critical current infrastructure and staff for Little River Pollution Control Plant, the Lou Romano Water Reclamation Plant and the numerous sewage Pumping Stations.

    Working with both Plant Managers and Project Engineers to assist in process, chemical and product research to optimize the plant’s operations to help reduce utility consumption and chemical usage resulting in tangible operational cost savings.

    Acting as a relief supervisor for the other Supervisors in the Pollution Control Department as well as Plant Managers, ensuring that critical knowledge of plant operations is transferred.

    Supervisor duties including providing instruction to staff, overseeing the day-to-day performance of work, reviewing and maintaining staff in WFM, executing accident/incident reports and staff discipline, and completing performance appraisals for probationary and annual deadlines as required.

    Monitoring the execution of Preventative Maintenance programs and associated costs.

    Purchasing items as required for maintaining operations.

    Assisting in coordinating pond maintenance activities.

  • Researching and ensuring staff are working in compliance with all applicable Occupational Health & Safety requirements.

    Maintaining, developing, and updating the Plant’s Operations Manual as required.

    Staff training for newly installed equipment, refresher training, training for new hires on existing equipment, and maintaining staff training logs to ensure training is up to date.

    Researching and investigating new chemicals (including running chemical trials and maintaining operational logs), and aeration controls for use in achieving plant operational efficiencies and optimization.

    Provide after hours “On Call” attendance for relief of Plant Manager or area Supervisors.

    Developing and updating standard Operating Procedures and Maintenance requirements as a result of optimization.

    Maintaining up to date knowledge on the changes in legislation, safety regulations and standards related to processes.

    Will perform Occupational Health & Safety duties as outlined in the Corporation’s Health and Safety program. Will perform other related duties as required.
