The Role

The Irrigation Service Technician is responsible for servicing, diagnosing, and repairing greenhouse irrigation systems at customer sites and through remote technical support. This role plays a key part in supporting both new and existing customers by delivering high-quality service, building strong relationships, and contributing to ongoing maintenance programs. The Irrigation Service Technician works independently in the field and must be comfortable troubleshooting complex systems in dynamic environments.

This position requires strong mechanical and controls aptitude, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to travel as needed to support customer operations.

Key Responsibilities Service and Troubleshooting
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain greenhouse irrigation equipment.
  • Provide technical support both on-site and remotely via phone or digital communication tools.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and irrigation-related issues efficiently.
  • Ensure timely and effective resolution of customer service requests.
Installation and Maintenance Support
  • Assist with installation and commissioning of new systems and equipment.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and service work for customers.
  • Support preventative maintenance programs and identify potential system improvements.
Customer Support and Relationship Building
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers.
  • Promote and support scheduled service maintenance programs.
  • Provide clear communication regarding service work, recommendations, and system performance.
  • Deliver a high level of customer service in all interactions.
Documentation and Reporting
  • Complete service reports, documentation, and required paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Maintain organized records of work performed and customer interactions.
  • Utilize company systems and Microsoft programs for reporting and communication.
Safety and Compliance
  • Follow all company safety procedures and protocols.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and represent the company positively in the field.
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience with mechanical systems required.
  • Experience in greenhouse equipment or horticulture industry considered an asset.
  • Experience with irrigation systems required.
  • Electrical experience preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Technical Skills and Competencies
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with tools and equipment.
  • Experience using hand and power tools.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to problem-solve independently.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical information and system layouts.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations.
  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office programs.
Additional Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract required.
  • Ability to travel and work overnight as required based on customer needs.
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated.
