Summary
Apprentice Service Technician typically involves  assisting experienced mechanics with vehicle repairs and maintenance, learning basic diagnostic and repair procedures, and gaining hands‑on experience under supervision . The role also includes tasks like ordering parts, maintaining tools and equipment, and contributing to a clean and safe work environment.

Responsibilities

Assist with Repairs and Maintenance:
Under the guidance of a journeyman mechanic, perform routine maintenance tasks like oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.

Diagnose and Troubleshoot:
Assist in identifying mechanical issues, following diagnostic procedures, and interpreting repair manuals.

Replace Parts:
Replace worn or damaged components, such as brake pads, sensors, and other mechanical parts, following manufacturer specifications.

Order Parts:
Assist with ordering necessary parts for repairs, ensuring accurate part specifications and inventory management.

Maintain Tools and Equipment:
Keep tools and equipment clean, organized, and in good working condition.

Clean and Safe Work Environment:
Maintain a clean and organized work area, following safety procedures and guidelines.

Learn and Develop

Skills:

Actively learn from experienced mechanics, observe their techniques, and gradually take on more challenging tasks.

Requirements

Strong Work Ethic:
Be punctual, reliable, and committed to learning.

Physical Stamina:
Be able to stand for extended periods, lift and move parts, and perform physically demanding tasks.

Attention to Detail:
Be able to follow instructions, interpret diagrams, and perform tasks accurately.

Basic Mechanical Knowledge:
Have some basic understanding of automotive mechanics, tools, and procedures.

Good Communication

Skills:

Be able to communicate effectively with mechanics, customers, and other team members.

Ability to Follow Instructions:
Understand and follow written and verbal instructions, as well as safety procedures.

Teamwork:
Be able to work effectively as part of a team, cooperating with other mechanics to achieve common goals.

Commit to the Dealership Brand

Complete the training offered by the dealership.

Stay up-to-date on all training programs.

Specific Skills

Able to operate manual and automatic transmissions.

Basic computer skills.

Education & Experience

Strong aptitude of technical/mechanical repairs.

Valid Driver’s License for province of employment.

Registered apprentice.
