Maintenance Specialist – Electrical/Instrumentation Technician
Trans Alta is hiring a Mechanical Specialist – Electrical Instrumentation Technician to support the Windsor Cogeneration Plant. The role reports to the Windsor Plant Manager and focuses on maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting plant electrical and instrumentation systems to ensure safe, reliable operations.

This is a full‑time, unionized, safety‑sensitive position based out of the Windsor Cogeneration Plant. Pre‑employment testing and background checks are required as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot plant electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.

Perform preventative and predictive maintenance and submit work requests.

Ensure equipment meets safety, regulatory, and performance requirements.

Follow safe isolation, electrical safety, and maintenance procedures.

Maintain accurate CMMS records and support reliability improvements.

Respond to call‑outs for urgent electrical/instrumentation issues.

Work with contractors and Maintenance Support Staff; help manage spare parts.

Train and support team members on EI maintenance practices.

Perform routine housekeeping and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Journeyperson Electrician Trade Certificate required;
Instrumentation Technologist Certificate or dual trade certification considered an asset.

+5 years of related experience, preferably in power generation, utilities, or other heavy industrial environments, is considered an asset.

Skilled in troubleshooting, preventative/predictive maintenance, and work management.

Comfortable using business IT systems; SAP experience an asset.

Strong understanding of safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.

Detail‑oriented, quick to learn, and proactive in your work.

Able to perform under pressure, adapt to changing priorities, and work well in a team.

Customer‑service mindset with integrity, resilience, and initiative.

Unifor Local 444  - The current union hourly rate for the Maintenance Specialist is CAD $60.77. The position is covered by the terms of the collective agreement.
