Foray Enterprises is looking for a skilled and motivated PLC, Robotics & Automation Service Technician to join our growing team. We design, install and support automation systems for the greenhouse, produce-packaging and post-harvest industries.

This position primarily focuses on PLC controls and robotics, with additional mechanical assembly, equipment installation, troubleshooting and customer service responsibilities.

Foray Enterprises is looking for a skilled and motivated PLC, Robotics & Automation Service Technician to join our growing team. We design, install and support automation systems for the greenhouse, produce-packaging and post-harvest industries.

This position primarily focuses on PLC controls and robotics, with additional mechanical assembly, equipment installation, troubleshooting and customer service responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Program, troubleshoot and modify PLC-controlled automation systems.
  • Program and support industrial robots and robotic cells.
  • Diagnose electrical, controls, sensor, communication and mechanical issues.
  • Configure and troubleshoot HMIs, VFDs, servo drives, safety devices and industrial networks.
  • Assist with equipment assembly, testing, commissioning and customer acceptance.
  • Read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings and equipment layouts.
  • Perform basic mechanical assembly, adjustments, repairs and equipment changeovers.
  • Install and test sensors, motors, cylinders, conveyors and other automation components.
  • Provide on-site and remote customer support and operator training.
  • Complete service reports and accurately document programming and equipment changes.
  • Travel to customer locations for installations, commissioning, troubleshooting and service.
  • Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation and provide after-hours support when required.
Qualifications
  • Experience with PLC programming and industrial automation.
  • Experience programming or troubleshooting industrial robots is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron or similar control platforms.
  • Understanding of HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, sensors, pneumatics and industrial communication networks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving, customer service and communication skills.
  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • A college diploma in electrical engineering technology, robotics, automation, mechatronics or a related field is preferred.
  • A recognized electrical, millwright or related trade certification will also be considered an asset.
  • Equivalent hands-on industrial automation experience may be considered in place of formal education.
  • Experience in the greenhouse, food-processing, packaging or conveyor industries is an asset.
Travel and On-Call Requirements
  • Travel throughout Canada and internationally is required for equipment installations, commissioning and service.
  • Travel may include overnight stays and occasional extended installations.
  • A valid driver’s licence and Canadian passport are required.
  • A valid American work visa or authorization to work in the United States is considered an asset.
  • The successful candidate must participate in a scheduled on-call rotation.
  • Evening, weekend and after-hours customer support will occasionally be required.
  • Travel time is paid at the employee’s regular hourly rate, with overtime paid where applicable.
  • Approved travel expenses, including transportation, accommodations and meals, are covered by the company.
