Our client, a leading automotive and advanced manufacturing organization
, is seeking an experienced Controls Specialist / Industrial Electrician to join their maintenance and automation team in Otterville, Ontario
.
This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed electrician with strong industrial automation and controls experience who enjoys troubleshooting, improving automated equipment, and supporting high-throughput manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on automated production equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems
. - Program, troubleshoot, and improve PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and process automation systems
. - Read, interpret, and modify electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Support new equipment installations, engineering projects, and controls programming.
- Identify opportunities to reduce downtime, improve equipment efficiency, and increase production capacity.
- Provide technical guidance and support to Electrical and Automation teams.
- Maintain technical documentation, equipment reports, drawings, and operating procedures.
- Apply continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles to improve processes and reduce costs.
- Mentor and provide technical support to junior team members.
Qualifications
- 442A or 309A Electrician Licence – required
- Post-secondary education in Engineering, Instrumentation, Process Control, Electronics, or a related discipline
- Minimum 3 years of relevant industrial process automation experience
- Hands‑on experience with PLC programming, HMIs, robotics, and automated manufacturing equipment
- Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Ability to read and modify electrical and mechanical schematics
- Experience preparing technical documentation and equipment reports
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
- Ability/certification to operate an aerial lift
Preferred: 10+ years of industrial process automation experience and a related post‑secondary degree or diploma.
