About the Role:

The Controls Engineer supports and improves automated assembly systems to increase productivity, efficiency, quality, and equipment uptime. This role applies industrial controls expertise, troubleshooting skills, and creative problem-solving to meet facility and customer needs.
This is a midnight shift position.

What You Will Do:
  • Maintain, develop, and improve automation controls systems, including PLC and HMI applications.
  • Review PLC logs and shift reports to identify issues, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Troubleshoot critical equipment and controls issues, determine root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Support programming, equipment uptime, OEE, error proofing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluate and implement new manufacturing and controls technologies.
  • Work cross-functionally and across facilities to resolve issues and share best practices.
  • Use Team Member feedback and data to identify opportunities and improve processes.
  • Perform equipment audits, SOT walks, and preventative activities to improve reliability and up time.
  • Prepare documentation, reports, incident reports, and updates for management and cross-functional meetings.
  • Support health and safety processes and demonstrate proactive, preventative safety behaviors.
  • Maintain current knowledge of controls technology and complete all required training.
What You Need To Be Successful:
  • 2+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing, JIT, assembly, or a related environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and engineering drawings.
  • Strong understanding of industrial controls systems, automated assembly, electronic devices, and communication protocols.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley Studio 5000, Siemens STEP 7, PLC programming, C++, C#, and ladder logic.
  • Experience programming FANUC robots and COGNEX cameras.
  • Advanced computer and controls troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across departments and facilities.
  • Proficiency in English.
Bonus Points If You Have:
  • Experience with Phoenix PC Works, Interbus, Device Net, RSView, or Control Logix.
  • Experience with additional manufacturing automation or controls technologies.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
Travel:
  • Minimal travel required
