Essential Functions:
The Design Librarian I (Youth Services ) plans, conducts, and evaluates high quality youth programming and library services on behalf of the Clearview Library District. This position reports directly to the Programming & Engagement Librarian III, and works very closely with the Windsor and Severance librarians and program specialists. The position also participates in the Most Responsible Person (MRP) rotation, including regular evening and weekend coverage.
CurriculumDesign and Programming
- Develops and implements a strategic vision for a consistent schedule of dynamic youth programs and events across the district.
- Regularly evaluates and assesses youth programs, and services to ensure alignment with community needs and organizational goals.
- Integrate library resources, database tutorials, and research strategies into library programming for youth.
- Compiles essential statistics regarding program participation and attendance, as well as emerging trends to guide programming and event offerings.
- Facilitates and supports youth programming across the district as operational needs require.
- Makes recommendations for new resources that will enhance the user experience.
- Works with the Program and Engagement team to help determine outcomes and standards; develops and maintains programming frameworks for the district.
- Works closely with the Programming and Engagement team to identify and engage with a diverse community of partners, ensuring the District's programs and services reach youth of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.
- Actively engage with and embed in community groups,attend local meetings to build relationships, gather insights on community needs, and identify gaps in youth services.
- Establish a visible, consistent library presence within the community to promote library usage.
- Represent the library at community meetings and events as a subject matter expert and advisor in libraries, childhood development, and youth services..
- Serve as the key liaison with the School District to determine opportunities for support, joint programs, cross promotion, and resource sharing.
- Creates and distributes marketing materials promoting youth services, programming, and outreach across multiple platforms.
- Collaborates with programming assistants in the design and staging of in-house displays promoting library events and collections.
- Assists with the creation of forward-facing program descriptions
- Creates title lists and other materials to promote collections.
- Promotes early literacy and youth engagement activities including 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, Junior Librarian Program, and PAWS for Reading.
- Identify initiatives the library can promote to children.
- cooperative efforts to support system-wide youth services, functions and programs.
