Job SummarySeeking a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) to join our team as a Project Geotechnical Engineer. This role involves managing geotechnical engineering projects from proposal through completion, including planning subsurface investigations, performing engineering analyses, preparing technical reports, and coordinating field exploration activities.
The position also requires experience with construction materials testing (CMT), including reviewing field test results and preparing or reviewing CMT reports. The Project Engineer will work closely with field technicians, drilling crews, contractors, and clients to ensure projects are completed efficiently and meet engineering standards.
Duties- Manage geotechnical projects including planning, scheduling, and coordination of field and laboratory activities.
- Plan and oversee subsurface investigations including drilling, sampling, and in‑situ testing.
- Perform geotechnical engineering analyses including foundation design, settlement evaluation, slope stability, earth pressure analysis, and pavement design.
- Prepare geotechnical engineering reports, proposals, and technical memoranda.
- Review field testing data and prepare construction materials testing (CMT) reports including soils and concrete testing documentation.
- Provide engineering recommendations for foundations, retaining structures, site grading, pavement sections, and earthwork.
- Provide construction‑phase engineering services including site visits, field consultation, and review of contractor work.
- Coordinate with drilling crews, field technicians, laboratories, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Mentor entry‑level engineers and technical staff.
- Assist with proposal preparation and client communication.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required (Colorado preferred or ability to obtain by reciprocity).
- 4 years of geotechnical engineering experience.
- Experience managing geotechnical investigations and preparing engineering reports.
- Experience with construction materials testing including soils, concrete, and field density testing.
- Ability to prepare and review construction materials testing (CMT) reports. Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to perform field work.
- MS degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Experience with foundation design, retaining walls, slope stability analysis, and pavement design.
- Familiarity with geotechnical engineering software such as Geo Studio, LPile, or similar programs.
- Experience supervising field technicians and coordinating CMT programs.
This position includes a combination of office‑based engineering work and field activities including drilling operations, construction observation, and oversight of materials testing. Field work may involve exposure to varying weather conditions and construction site environments. Some regional travel within northern Colorado and surrounding areas may be required.
