The purpose of this internship at Woodward is to provide students with exposure and "real life" business acumen within the Aerospace and Energy Industry, practical experience, and the opportunity to work on challenging projects, network with professionals, and potentially secure full‑time employment.
Primary Responsibilities- Operate and set up tribometers and materials prep equipment.
- Compile, interpret, and report data generated from tribometers.
- Use MS Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to complete tasks.
- Interact effectively with team members, share opinions, and ask questions related to work and studies.
- Work independently on assigned tasks with supervisory oversight.
- Recognize problems beyond the intern’s capabilities and seek guidance.
- Coordinate tasks with other departments to meet schedules.
- Maintain good attendance and perform related duties as assigned.
- Present a year‑end presentation of the internship experience.
- Report GPA status to supervisor on a quarterly/semester basis.
- Create work instructions for operating tribometers.
- Increase tribology throughput by 25%.
- Produce reports for key tribology projects.
- Other functions will vary based on the assigned work area.
- May rotate assignments to gain additional business experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Problem‑solving and trouble‑shooting competence.
- Proficiency in PCs, MS Office, and related software.
- Team‑environmental work ability.
- Effective time‑management skills.
- Solid knowledge of the English language (reading, writing, speaking, listening).
- Good marks in relevant subjects.
- High motivation, flexibility, and self‑work capability.
Must be at least a sophomore in an accredited college or university engineering‑related program and maintain an acceptable GPA.
Experience RequiredNo prior experience required. Previous internship or other working experience is a plus.
Materials and Equipment Used- PCs (word processing, spreadsheets, proprietary applications)
- Standard hand tools and measuring devices
- Standard office equipment (copiers, fax machines, etc.)
The intern works in a normal office environment and may, depending on location or assignment, visit plant areas with exposure to noise, chemical solutions, dust, and varying temperatures.
