The Maintenance Supervisor coordinates activities of workers engaged in repairing physical structures of buildings, custodial and grounds, installing, inspecting, testing, repairing, adjusting, and calibrating instruments/machines responsible for the manufacturing of turbine blades and blade components.

Responsibilities
  • Development and implementation of preventive and predictive maintenance techniques
  • Inspect and test shop equipment and new and repaired instruments to verify dimensions of parts and for conformance to quality control standards
  • Disassemble, adjust, alter repair, calibrate, and reassemble damaged or defective instruments
  • Assist workers in repair of instruments and machines
  • Meet and negotiate with outside vendors to develop contracts and pricing agreements and maintain contacts
  • Requisition tools, equipment, new parts, instruments and supplies
  • Inspect completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards
  • Study production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment
  • Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations
  • Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew
  • Analyze and resolve work problems, or assist workers in solving work problems
  • Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals
  • Maintain time and production records
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments
  • Perform activities of workers supervised
  • Prepare work orders indicating malfunctions of instruments
  • Advanced knowledge of shop tools and tool purchasing
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assign duties
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
Leadership and Direction
  • Set an example as a Vestas ambassador and role model in terms of behaviors showing focus on Vestas core values in accountability, collaboration, simplicity and ownership; show high degree of honesty, initiative, integrity, drive, reliability and trustworthiness; foster a positive, harassment‑free work environment for all team members
  • Foster participation, ownership and collaboration by encouraging area team members involvement, soliciting input on process improvements and utilizing team member ideas as much as possible
  • Expected to translate goals set by leadership into tasks and drive completion of daily production schedule; responsible for team’s performance with regards to safety, quality, delivery, schedule adherence and continuous improvement
  • Provide clear communication; ensure open and transparent, bi‑directional communication amongst team both laterally between team members but also to support groups, supplier groups, customer groups and management
  • Ensure all team members have performance expectations set, 1:1 coaching and evaluations for performance, behaviors and development plans, coaching and development of Process Leads
Safety
  • Set an example, with regards to safe behavior, hazard recognition, and incident prevention; ensure they and other team members are safe and actively support an incident‑free culture and mindset
  • Ensure team’s compliance of established safety rules, policies and practices of environmental, health and safety with specific attention to the Vestas Lifesaving Rules
  • Responsible for conducting daily/monthly safety inspections in assigned area, correcting hazards identified, and ensure that employees are using proper PPE at all times
  • Responsible to alert appropriate support function when encountering the need to execute non‑standard processes, and lead/participate in creation of job hazard analysis prior to work being performed
  • Investigating incidents and near misses in conjunction with the safety representative
  • Take immediate action when tools or equipment are not being used safely or when tools are need of repair that are presenting safety risks
