Quality Supervisor
GeneralPurpose:
Responsible for leading daily quality operations to ensure product conformity, adherence to QMS requirements, and timely execution of inspections, nonconformance (NC) management, and product release. Translates quality requirements into clear direction, standard work execution, and continuous improvement within the assigned area.
Responsibilities:- Ensure consistent execution of quality inspections, NC creation/closure, and product release activities.
- Prioritize workload and coordinate shift coverage to meet quality and delivery requirements.
- Lead shopfloor-level quality issue resolution using Daily Management, 5-Why, containment, and timely escalation for complex issues.
- Coach, train, and assess Quality Technician competence levels.
- Reinforce quality standards, QMS discipline, and quality-first behaviors on the shopfloor.
- Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing safety policies and safe behaviors.
- Communicate effectively with the team and across the business.
- Provide team members with required tools, training, and resources.
- Set performance expectations and conduct coaching, 1:1s, and evaluations.
- Meet cost and quality targets by reducing waste and applying lean principles.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ensure consistent execution of inspections, NC handling, and product release, including workload prioritization and shift coverage.
- Lead first-level quality issue resolution (Daily Management, 5-Why, containment), escalate effectively, and follow up on corrective actions.
- Coach, train, and assess Quality Technician competence levels and support skill development.
- Reinforce quality standards and behaviors, ensuring adherence to QMS, safety, and quality-first principles.
- Coordinate activities across shifts to maintain continuity and resolve quality issues.
- Make operational decisions to keep the area on plan, including resource allocation and escalation.
- Lead safety compliance, enforce HSE rules, 5S, and permit requirements, and capitalize incidents.
- Ensure standard work execution and conduct layered audits to verify compliance and coach group leads.
- Drive continuous improvement using VSM, kaizen, structured problem solving (5-Why, 8D), and verified CAPA closure.
- Participate in PAST meetings and coordinate required actions with support departments.
- Maintain MES/ERP data integrity and ensure accurate quality and shopfloor reporting.
- Analyze problems and make sound decisions using relevant information.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional and global teams.
- Model integrity, accountability, and a quality-first mindset.
- Translate goals into actionable plans and follow through to completion.
- Use Microsoft Office and data systems to support daily operations.
Skills Required:
- High school diploma or GED; 3+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- College degree in a related field preferred.
- Ability to work effectively leading teams with adaptability and flexibility.
- Strong work ethic, dependability, and commitment to quality.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, ERP/MRP systems, and related software.
- Working knowledge of Lean/5S principles and QMS requirements.
- Ability to understand and apply production work instructions.
- Skills in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem solving.ective verbal and written communication and conflict-resolution skills.
- Minimal travel may be required.

- Ability to read and follow work instructions in English, and accurately complete quality and administrative documentation
- Use small hand tools and power tools to perform assembly tasks
- Respond promptly to alarms, signals, and verbal directions in the work environment
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, face shield, respirator, and bump cap, as tasks require up to 4 hours at a time and for the duration of a 12-hour shift
- Work safely with chemicals and materials in compliance with OSHA guidelines
- Sit on a rolling stool and maneuver up to 40 feet when needed
- Regularly use hands to handle materials and tools; reach at and above shoulder level
- Reach overhead to assemble nuts and bolts for periods of up to 5 consecutive minutes
- Stand and walk frequently throughout the shift; sit occasionally as tasks allow
- Position self to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required for assembly and maintenance tasks
- Kneel on one knee, squat, and bend so hands are at knee height for extended times
- Climb up and down flights of stairs multiple times per shift
- Maintain vision sufficient for both close-up and distant work tasks
