- Maintain in-depth knowledge of our produce offerings and provide knowledgeable suggestions to customers.
- Assist in preparing produce platters/trays for our customers.
- Keep customers informed about exciting produce specials.
- Make recommendations to ensure customers find exactly what they need.
- Efficiently prepare, package, label, and inventory merchandise.
- Inspect products for quality and freshness, taking necessary actions on substandard items.
- Label, stock, and manage inventory of merchandise in the department.
- Report any discrepancies in product ordering or shipping to the department manager.
- Maintain a positive attitude in all interactions.
- Stay informed about current and upcoming seasonal promotions.
- Ensure temperatures for produce are properly monitored and recorded.
- Reinforce safety protocols by adhering to procedures and reporting unsafe conditions to management.
- Participate in preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and noting any repair needs.
- Report any customer or employee accidents to management promptly.
- Alert store management about any safety risks, theft, or illegal activities.
- Collaborate effectively with others in a fast-paced and sometimes challenging environment.
- Manage conflicts in a constructive and cooperative manner.
- Uphold honesty and integrity when handling customer and business information.
- Follow instructions and seek assistance when resolving customer and business issues.
- Provide support to customers including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Perform all essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations.
- Strong communication skills.
- Basic math skills (counting, addition, and subtraction).
- Must obtain a current food handler's permit upon employment.
- Retail experience in a similar role.
- Ability to speak, read, and write in a second language.
