About the Role

As a CBRE Building Engineer, you will perform complex preventive and corrective maintenance on buildings, industrial systems, vehicles, equipment, and grounds. Working under limited supervision, you will monitor building system operations and performance, requiring trade skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating, and cooling.

What You’ll Do
  • Comply with all applicable regulations, codes, and company directives related to building operations and safety.
  • Inspect building systems—fire alarms, HVAC, plumbing—to ensure design capability and client‑prescribed environmental conditions.
  • Oversee and inspect work performed by outside contractors, including landscaping, snow removal, remodeling, HVAC, plumbing, and cleaning.
  • Perform assigned repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance, and complete required maintenance records.
  • Review work orders, estimate time and materials, and order supplies to complete tasks.
  • Maintain an energy management program to optimize system efficiency and minimize operating costs.
  • Maintain the building lighting system, including element and ballast repairs or replacements.
  • Perform welding, carpentry, furniture assembly, and locksmith tasks as needed.
  • Respond quickly to emergency situations, arranging additional assistance as required.

What You’ll Need
  • Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 4 years of job‑related experience.
  • Universal CFC certification preferred.
  • Additional certifications in electrical, mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry, or engine repair, as required by jurisdiction.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, correspondences, and memos; ask clarifying questions.
  • Capability to write routine reports and respond to client and colleague inquiries.
  • Effective presentation skills to internal colleagues.
  • Practical problem‑solving skills and technical expertise for assessment and judgment.
  • Basic computer skills: work order system, Microsoft Outlook, ESS and training.
  • Meet physical requirements: stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, lifting/carrying heavy loads of 40 lbs or more.
  • Strong organizational skills with inquisitive mindset.
  • Full health, safety compliance including training, policy instruction, audit support, and reporting of HSE concerns.
  • Valid driver’s license may be required.

Compensation

Minimum salary: $68,000 annually. Maximum salary: $80,000 annually. Compensation offered will depend on candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
