Operations Manager

The Town of Windsor is looking to fill a Crew Leader (Highway/Paving) position in the Department of Public Works. Please see the attached job description for a more complete explanation of the position.
The PositionUnder general supervision of the Operations Manager, the purpose of this position is to supervise and perform the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment and power equipment on assigned projects or activities of a public services nature. This may entail road and sidewalk construction and maintenance; storm water systems maintenance and construction. The Crew Leader is responsible for supervising crews and maintaining and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her direction and control.
OurIdeal Candidate
- Must have knowledge of the materials, methods and techniques used in highway/road maintenance and the operations of tools and equipment required to accomplish the required tasks.
- Must have ability to understand and follow complex oral instructions and ability to read and interpret written instructions, specifications, safety rules and procedure manuals.
- Must have the ability to write simple correspondence and have basic math skills to calculate amount of various material needed and other related calculations.
- Must maintain basic records, supervise the work of others and work without close supervision.
- Must have ability to perform heavy skilled and manual labor under adverse and uncomfortable conditions, as necessary.
- Must have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, associates, subordinates, and the general public.
- Must have ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to co-workers and customers.
- Completion of High School or equivalent, plus a minimum of six years of related grounds maintenance experience; OR any combination of training or experience which provides a demonstrated potential to perform the essential duties of the position.
- Must maintain and currently have a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-B) with necessary endorsements to operate public works vehicles and equipment, and be able to obtain a valid (CDL-A) license, as necessary.
