Hartford Health Care's Ayer Neuroscience Institute is seeking a Spine Neurosurgeon to join Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT.

Hartford Hospital is an 867‑bed tertiary care, academic medical center located in the heart of downtown Hartford, CT. The hospital is a Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, NAEC Level 4 Epilepsy Center, and Joint Commission Advanced Spine Center. The neurosurgery program at Hartford Hospital is robust and one of the busiest in New England, staffed by nine Neurosurgeons and over twenty Neurosurgery Physician Assistants, completing more than 2,000 neurosurgical cases annually.

The program includes subspecialty expertise in Functional (including Deep Brain Stimulation), Epilepsy, Skull Base, Complex Spine, Neurosurgical Oncology, Vascular & Endovascular, Spine, and Trauma.

The new surgeon will enter immediate volume, focusing on Spine and Complex Spine, and will have the opportunity to further develop the spine program with the Medical Director. The Spine program currently completes 1,200 cases annually with room for growth. Hartford Health Care's Ayer Neuroscience Institute also hosts robust programs in Movement Disorders, Epilepsy, Pain Management, Physiatry, Physical Therapy, and more, driving the need for neurosurgical and spine expertise.

• 867‑bed hospital with dedicated Neurosurgery ORs, neuroscience units, and Neuroscience ICU
• Level 1 trauma center, Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, NAEC Level 4 Epilepsy Center, and Joint Commission Advanced Spine Center (the first in the nation)
• Robust surgical technology, including Mazor X spine robots, Medtronic O‑Arm and Stealth Navigation, Zeiss microscopes, headframes for stereotactic DBS, and ancillary equipment
• Five dedicated Neurosurgery ORs and OR staffing (including Perioperative Manager)
• Two dedicated neuroscience units and a 23‑bed Neuroscience ICU, staffed by neurocritical care nurses, APPs, and eight Neurointensivists
• Dedicated Nurse Navigators to support patients through the pathway
• Neurosurgery Residency Program in collaboration with UCONN School of Medicine
• Existing neurology residency and general surgery residency; opportunities for teaching and collaborative clinical research supported by UCONN’s dedicated research department
• Air ambulance service (LIFE STAR) transporting patients from throughout New England
• Research opportunities in Spine Neurosurgery

• Medical degree from an accredited university
• Neurosurgery Spine Fellowship training from an accredited program preferred
• Neurosurgery board‑certified or board‑eligible
• Florida license or eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Connecticut
• Strong work ethic and desire to participate in a team‑oriented, performance‑driven health system
