Make a significant difference in students lives by providing specialized instruction and support in a Social Emotional Behavioral classroom serving grades 3-5. This contract role offers the opportunity to work full-time in a supportive school environment, working consistently at one school throughout the assignment near Windsor, CT. The position covers the dates ASAP through June 13, 2026, with an extension from September 1, 2026, to October 15, 2026.
Your expertise as a Special Education Teacher will help build confidence and inspire growth in students who benefit from tailored behavioral and academic interventions.
Required Experience:
- Active Connecticut Special Education (SPED) license
- Previous experience working with elementary-aged students, preferably grades 3-5
- Background in managing and implementing instructional strategies for social, emotional, and behavioral support
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to liaise with colleagues, parents, and support personnel
- Familiarity with IEP development, progress monitoring, and data-driven instruction
- Ability to create a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom culture
- Deliver individualized and group instruction to students in a Social Emotional Behavioral classroom
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in partnership with multidisciplinary teams
- Employ evidence-based behavioral interventions and support plans
- Foster social skills development, emotional regulation, and academic achievement
- Communicate regularly with families and staff regarding student progress
- Participate in professional development and faculty meetings as required
- Maintain documentation and compliance consistent with school and district policies
