Compensation: $50.08 per hour.
Qualifications- Proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematics; able to instruct RLA and Social Studies following Common Core State Standards (CCSS).
- Proficient computer skills.
- Meet Windsor Board of Education requirements for this position.
- Adult Education teachers maintain Adult Education Endorsements and provide a copy to the program facilitator (endorsement 107).
- Adhere to mandates set by the Connecticut State Department of Education.
Provide numeracy instruction for high‑school equivalency and work readiness to students.
Duties and Responsibilities- Demonstrate knowledge of the subject(s) to be taught.
- Understand Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and Connecticut Competency System (CCS), including CASAS competencies.
- Use CASAS Pre/Post Assessment results to plan and differentiate instruction based on learners’ abilities and goals.
- Effectively communicate with students.
- Offer out‑of‑class instruction or assistance opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Program Facilitator in implementing CCS.
- Utilize the Blended Learning Environment Model for students.
- Attend staff meetings at the start of each semester and as needed; meetings are scheduled by the adult education facilitator.
- Support the adult education program and students by attending the annual Awards Ceremony.
- Support the program by attending the annual Connecticut Association for Adult and Continuing Education (CAACE) Conference in March.
- Arrive on time for all scheduled classes.
- Supervise assigned classes; never leave students unsupervised.
- Organize time, space, materials, and equipment for instruction.
- Create a positive learning environment, enforcing behavior contracts as outlined in the student handbook.
- Follow up with students who have poor attendance.
- Record student attendance accurately and in a timely manner in the LACES reporting system.
- Assess student needs and progress using the CASAS Assessment System, guided by the Program Facilitators.
- Understand human growth and development as it relates to teaching and learning.
- Support students in developing positive self‑concepts.
- Participate in staff development that meets professional needs and program objectives.
- Agree to and adhere to the Windsor Public Schools Professional Growth Policy P4120.
- Comfortable using technology for planning and instruction, including computers (laptop/desktop), iPad, Chromebook, Smart Board, projector, and related tools.
- Proficient with Gmail and Google Docs.
