Qualifications- Proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematics and ability to instruct RLA and Social Studies according to Common Core State Standards (CCSS).
- Proficient computer skills.
- Meet the requirements of the Windsor Board of Education for this position.
- Maintain Adult Education Endorsements (endorsement 107) and provide a copy to the program facilitator.
- Adhere to all mandates set forth by the Connecticut State Department of Education.
Provide numeracy instruction for high school equivalency and work readiness to students.
Duties and Responsibilities- Demonstrate knowledge of the subject(s) to be taught.
- Understand the Common Core State Standards (CCSS).
- Know the Connecticut Competency System (CCS) and the Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment (CASAS) competencies.
- Use CASAS Pre/Post Assessment results to plan and differentiate instruction based on learner abilities and goals.
- Communicate effectively with students.
- Provide opportunities for students to receive out‑of‑class instruction or assistance.
- Work with the Program Facilitator in implementing CCS.
- Use the Blended Learning Environment Model for students.
- Attend staff meetings at the beginning of each semester and as needed; meetings will be scheduled by the adult education facilitator.
- Support the program and students by attending the annual Awards Ceremony.
- Attend the annual Connecticut Association for Adult and Continuing Education (CAACE) Conference in March.
- Be on time for all scheduled classes.
- Supervise assigned class and not leave students unsupervised.
- Organize time, space, materials, and equipment for instruction.
- Establish a positive learning environment and enforce student behavior contracts as outlined in the student handbook.
- Follow up with students who have poor attendance.
- Enter timely and accurate student attendance in the LACES reporting system.
- Effectively assess student needs and progress using the CASAS Assessment System with guidance from the Program Facilitators.
- Understand human growth and development as it relates to the teaching‑learning process.
- Help students develop positive self‑concepts.
- Staff development is offered in accordance with professional needs and program objectives.
- Agree to and adhere to the Windsor Public Schools Professional Growth Policy P4120.
- Be comfortable using technology for planning and instruction (computers, iPad, Chromebook, Smart board, projector, etc.).
- Be comfortable using Gmail and Google Docs.
