Special Education Teacher, Special Needs / Learning Disabilities
Make a positive impact this school year by guiding and supporting students in a Social Emotional Behavior classroom for grades 3-5. This full-time contract opportunity involves working closely with exceptional learners in an engaging, in-person environment near Windsor, CT. Collaborate with dedicated colleagues and help students develop both academically and socially from 8:20 AM to 3:40 PM, Monday through Friday. The assignment runs until October, with potential for extension.
Qualifications:- Valid certification as a Special Education Teacher, or eligibility to obtain certification
- Experience or passion for working in special education settings, specifically with social-emotional or behavioral needs
- Ability to create inclusive, individualized lesson plans and behavior support strategies
- Strong communication and organization skills
- Commitment to fostering a safe and positive classroom environment
- Experience with elementary-aged children (grades 3-5) preferred
- Willingness to work on-site for the entire contract duration
- Provide individualized instruction and behavioral interventions tailored to each students IEP
- Foster the social and emotional growth of students within a supportive classroom
- Collaborate with fellow educators, support staff, and families to develop effective learning strategies
- Maintain accurate documentation of progress, behavior, and interventions
- Implement classroom management plans and routines to ensure a productive learning atmosphere
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to ongoing program improvement
