Tutoring Position
Objective:
To help broaden a student's horizons through a one-to-one tutoring relationship or through small group instruction.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or higher.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate lesson plans with teachers based on the needs and interests of the student.
- Respect the student by involving him/her in decisions about the learning process.
- Encourage the student by praising him/her and by showing a positive attitude about learning.
- Guide the student in his/her understanding of American culture.
- Knowledge of second language acquisition models.
- Experience working with students in a school setting preferred and/or demonstrated ability to make connections and provide academic support for such students.
- Successful completion of college level coursework or passing of examination as required by the No Child Left Behind Act.
Schedule:
Hours may vary depending on student/program needs but shall never exceed 19.5 hours per week.
