What You Will Do- Responsible for determining electrical manufacturing methods for hardware and ensuring that the processes are available.
- Create manufacturing assembly documentation, concept tools and provide technical assistance to assemble high quality, high engineered hardware for use in Life support and Thermal control applications as well as to external suppliers. Support failure investigations, determine root cause of failure, implement corrective actions and disposition of non-conforming hardware, in support of continuous improvement initiatives.
- Determine and create the sequence of larger and more complex operations and installations; specify procedures for fabrication of tools and equipment and other processes, including disassembly/assembly and repairs, to ensure efficiency and optimize performance.
- Ensure processes and procedures comply with Environmental, Health and Safety requirements as well as applicable quality requirements.
- Identify opportunities or implement changes, on a need basis, to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials, and parts to optimize productivity and resource use.
- Perform cost estimates, work to schedules, and write procedures and policies.
- Review drawings and concepts and resolve producibility concerns, including recommendations concerning acquisition and use of new technological equipment and materials.
- Work effectively in an integrated product development team and design environment.
- Present to senior management on various topics and participate in initiatives such as ACE, Process Certification, Manufacturing Process Reviews, Lean Manufacturing and EH&S projects.
- Possess a positive attitude and communicate well within an integrated product development team, staff and management.
- Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
- Familiarity with a modeling and/or design package such as Creo is desired.
- Background courses in electrical design and/or manufacturing.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and special processing such as IPC-J-STD-001E/ES, NASA-STD-8739.1, and NASA-STD-8739.4.
- Experience with conveying work instructions to teams, especially with software solutions such as a Manufacturing Execution System (e.g., Solumina).
- Strong knowledge of Continuous improvement methods such as Shainin/Red X, Design of Experiment (DOE), DMAIC, Ishikawa and Fault Tree Analysis.
