Overview
Responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness for new product introductions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including quality engineers, quality assurance, setup personnel and machinists to support production goals, product quality and on-time delivery.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement efficient CNC machining processes, including tooling, fixtures, and programming for multiaxis CNC machines.
- Create and optimize CNC programs using CAD/CAM software, ensuring compliance with product specifications and quality standards.
- Analyze manufacturing workflows and identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce cycle times, and minimize waste.
- Collaborate with design engineers to ensure manufacturability of new products, offering DFM (Design for Manufacturability) input during the design phase.
- Lead troubleshooting and rootcause analysis for manufacturing issues, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Evaluate and select proper CNC equipment, tooling, and technologies for NPI.
- Establish and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, setup sheets, and standard operating procedures.
- Train and mentor machine operators and other staff on CNC processes, best practices, and quality standards.
- Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S, Six Sigma, and Kaizen projects.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements in all manufacturing processes.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in CNC machining and process engineering.
- Extensive handson experience with CNC machine programming, setup and operation. This includes advanced skills like probing and macro programming.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (Solid Works CAD, Esprit CAM, Siemens NX CAD/CAM) including verification software Vericut.
- Indepth knowledge of multiaxis CNC machining (e.g., 3, 4, and 5axis mills, and multi axis millturn lathes).
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings/specifications/standards in accordance with customer requirements.
- Strong understanding of GD&T (ASNI Y14.5) and blueprint reading.
- Extensive knowledge and use of common metrology & measurement systems.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and process optimization.
- Excellent problem solving skills and ability to perform root cause analysis.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with PCDMIS CMM programming and/or automation engineering.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (preferably Epicor).
- Experience with MBD in Siemens NX environment.
