Field Service Engineer (Heavy Travel – Industrial Systems)

We’re looking for a highly skilled Field Service Engineer to support advanced industrial vacuum and process systems across North America. This is a hands‑on, travel‑intensive role where you’ll work directly with cutting‑edge equipment, solve complex technical challenges, and play a key role in keeping critical manufacturing operations running.

This position is ideal for someone with a strong electrical and controls background who enjoys troubleshooting in the field, working with customers, and supporting industrial automation systems.

• Perform on‑site installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of industrial equipment and automated systems
• Troubleshoot complex electrical, PLC, and automation issues in real time at customer sites
• Provide technical support to customers, both onsite and remotely (phone/email troubleshooting as needed)
• Partner with customers, contractors, and internal teams to ensure successful system performance and uptime
• Support upgrades, retrofits, and optimization of existing equipment
• Assist in training junior engineers and sharing technical knowledge across the team
• Document service activities, findings, and recommendations in clear, timely reports
• Identify spare parts needs, recommend inventory, and support parts‑related technical decisions
• Contribute field insights to improve products, services, and customer satisfaction
• Occasionally support project management activities during installations and commissioning

• Strong electrical troubleshooting expertise in industrial environments
• Experience with PLCs and controls systems (Allen Bradley, Siemens, or similar)
• Background in industrial automation and equipment diagnostics
• Electrical engineering degree or equivalent hands‑on field electrical experience
• Ability to read electrical schematics and work with control systems

• Field service or industrial equipment support experience
• Experience with capital equipment such as:
• Heat treating equipment
• Aerospace or advanced manufacturing equipment
• Metallurgy or process systems
• Comfort working independently at customer sites and managing technical issues on your own

• Strong communication skills with the ability to work with stakeholders at all levels
• Customer‑focused mindset with a problem‑solving approach
• Ability to identify opportunities for improvement or additional support
• Travel up to 75%, primarily across the U.S., with occasional travel to Canada and Mexico
• Majority of work is performed onsite at customer facilities
• Candidates can be based anywhere in the East Coast or Southeast U.S., ideally near a major airport
• Initial training will take place in Frankfurt, Germany
• Work includes exposure to industrial environments, requiring appropriate PPE and physical activity (lifting, climbing, standing, etc.)

• Hourly, non‑exempt position with overtime eligibility
• Per diem and all travel expenses covered
