Job Summary
People‑first Senior Manager of Application Development to lead a team of 50+ architects, developers, designers, and support specialists across onshore (Connecticut and remote U.S.) and offshore partner models. This role oversees the full lifecycle of enterprise applications – from architecture and design to development, testing, and deployment – ensuring stability, performance, and scalability across platforms.
The Senior Manager sets technical standards, drives engineering excellence, and implements Agile best practices while managing budgets and resource allocation. Operating in a fast‑paced environment, this role requires deep collaboration with business stakeholders and IT teams to deliver high‑impact projects, enhancements, and reduce technical debt. Key responsibilities include leading hybrid development teams, shaping the long‑term technology roadmap, maturing release management processes, facilitating career growth, and ensuring IT solutions are tightly aligned with business strategy.
- Application Ownership:
Oversee the full lifecycle of enterprise applications – from design and development to integration, deployment, and support handover – ensuring stability, performance, and scalability. - Technical Leadership:
Provides expert technical and functional leadership across .NET, Salesforce, and Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365), guiding architectural decisions and solution design. Define and evolve the future‑state application architecture, ensuring scalability, modernization, integration maturity, and alignment with enterprise standards. Partner with WM Corporate infrastructure teams to coordinate system maintenance, security, and environment readiness. - Project & Resource Management:
Lead planning and execution of development initiatives, including design proposals, sizing, and business value alignment. Assign and review work, allocate appropriate resources to ensure projects are completed within committed time and budget, and are integrated with other software applications. Partner closely with the PMO to manage capacity plans, track actuals vs. forecast, and optimize workforce utilization across onshore and offshore teams. - Budget Oversight:
Prepare and/or provide budget input for ongoing and future expenditures, monitor budget performance, provide forecasts, and manage vendor performance to deliver cost‑effective results. Monitor departmental performance against budget. - Future‑State Architecture &
Roadmap:
Establish strategic plans and objectives. Build and maintain a multi‑year technology modernization roadmap that addresses capability gaps, technical debt, cloud strategy, resilience, data integration, and enterprise alignment. Prioritize architectural initiatives based on business value, feasibility, ROI, and alignment with WM Digital's long‑term strategy. Collaborate with Product, PMO, and business leaders to ensure roadmap visibility and cross‑functional adoption. - Stakeholder Alignment & Engagement:
Act as a strategic business partner by understanding organizational objectives, building strong relationships with stakeholders, and translating needs into scalable, high‑performing technology solutions through clear communication and proactive engagement. - Issue Management & De‑escalation:
Serve as the escalation point for high‑impact issues and cross‑platform failures. Ensure that partner teams (internal and external) adhere to SLAs, communicate promptly, deliver RCA documentation, and participate in recurring performance reviews. Use incident trend analysis and release‑related retrospectives to improve stability and prevent recurring issues. - Engineering, Delivery & Release Excellence:
Oversee Dev Ops activities – including environment set‑up, tooling, code libraries, branching strategy, and deployment pipelines – while championing Agile practices to improve delivery speed, quality, and team performance. Lead and mature the enterprise release management framework by defining release calendars, readiness criteria, governance checkpoints, deployment schedules, and communication standards.
