Quality Engineer
The Quality Engineer will lead all IT QA activities for a large multi-million dollar program. This will include planning and all execution of IT QA activities from strategy development to IT QA execution. Provides technical leadership from a quality perspective, infusing quality delivery through all phases of the software and technology delivery lifecycle.
Understand The Testing Scope- Clarify scope boundaries and activities for unit / SIT / UAT
- Clarify inter-dependencies and expectations with other teams (e.g. EDM)
- Ensure testing roles are clearly defined and fulfilled, and responsibilities are laid out and socialized
- Set expectations with IT / Business on what constitute "severe" defects, facilitate review sessions and provide governance over defect manage / remediate
- Develop materials to facilitate discussions
- Set expectations and provide guidance on tools to be used for testing evidence and reporting (e.g. QC)
- Lead testing governance forums for testing resources to provide progress updates and escalate issues
- Provide summary progress reports / status / risk and issues for program Execs and program PMs
- Interact with other testing groups and leads (e.g. EDM)
- Provide assistance for testing execution, where needed
- In presence of defects, ensures defects are valid, logged, governed and remediated as per agreed upon timelines
- Review and finalize testing plans with testing leads/resources
- Summarize/roll up overview of testing timeline at the program level, and set expectations with IT/Business
- Monitor / manage testing timeline/plan and provide weekly updates including risks/issues
- Assist testing leads with defects remediation governance and remediation timelines / commitments
- Work with program PM and develop materials for Steer Co or leadership updates
- Provide weekly updates to program PM across all areas of scope
- Escalate risks and dependencies
- Thorough understanding of software development life cycles (i.e. waterfall, agile, test driven development, etc.)
- Collaborate with development, infrastructure and security teams
- Ability to work independently as well as lead all QA activities from planning to execution
- When needed develop standards and procedures to determine software quality and release readiness
- Drive innovation and streamline overall testing process
- Interpret technical and business objectives and challenges
- Perform and document data analysis and ensure data anomalies are well documented and understood
- Solid understanding of QA testing environments: needs and strategy
- Identify, isolate and track test issues throughout the software development life cycle
- Create master data/test strategies, test plans and test scenarios/cases
- Ability to code automated tests, analyze test results and formulate action plans
- While being individual contributor, effective review of QA artifacts produced by offshore QA team members
- Effective utilization onshore offshore model to facilitate on time and quality deliverables
- 5+ yrs. of experience in development of test strategies and test plans for projects involving next gen technologies like Big data and Cloud
