Position Overview

Fischer Technology is seeking a motivated Field Sales Engineer to join our growing sales team. This consultative, customer-facing role is responsible for developing new business opportunities while supporting and growing existing customer relationships throughout an assigned territory.

The successful candidate will work directly with manufacturers to understand their measurement challenges, recommend appropriate Fischer solutions, conduct product demonstrations, prepare quotations, and manage the sales process from prospecting through closing. This position combines technical expertise with strategic sales skills and requires frequent travel to customer sites.

Essential Job Functions
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers within the assigned territory.
  • Promote and sell Fischer Technology's portfolio of coating thickness measurement and material analysis instrumentation.
  • Conduct customer visits, product demonstrations, and technical presentations to understand customer needs and recommend appropriate measurement solutions.
  • Manage the sales process from prospecting through closing, including preparing quotations and proposals and maintaining accurate customer information within the CRM system.
  • Provide technical support regarding product specifications, applications, and measurement solutions while collaborating with internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Identify new business opportunities through customer engagement, market research, and awareness of industry trends and competitor activities.
  • Represent Fischer Technology at trade shows, industry events, and customer meetings.
  • Travel up to 50%, including overnight travel.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Materials, Quality, Metrology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field preferred. High levels of relevant instrumentation experience will also be considered.
  • Proven experience in B2B selling, preferably in a technical or industrial environment.
  • Experience with structured sales processes or sales methodologies such as Sandler, Miller Heiman, or similar programs preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience selling analytical instrumentation, capital equipment, or other complex technical solutions, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and generate reports.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric approach.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, Hub Spot, Dynamics).
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer sponsorship now or in the future.
