Amerit Fleet Solutions, one of the leading fleet maintenance companies in the U.S., is looking to hire a skilled Electric Equipment (Switchers/Yard Goats) Service Technician to repair and maintain Class A EV trucks in the Windsor, CT area. Compensation $40 - $50 hourly pay, DOE; paid weekly on Friday.

Shift Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

What the EV Technician role looks like
  • Assisting technician team with service and repair of electrical and mechanical issues.
  • Performing software and firmware updates.
  • Following processes and documenting potential improvements and issues.
  • Collaborating with external OEM engineering and service teams to troubleshoot and diagnose issues.
  • Creating repair orders, documenting work performed, stating the diagnosis, procedure performed, and parts required.
  • Creating issue tickets with OEM, following up with open issues to resolve warranty or service issues.
  • Performing work with safety being top priority.
  • Participating in continuing education and training.
  • Perform PMs and other minor repairs on trailers when EV work is not available.
  • Perform high‑voltage electrical repairs under minimal supervision including removal & installation of high‑voltage batteries, high‑voltage battery inspections, traction motors, high‑voltage contractors, high‑voltage drive trains, inverters, and other high‑voltage repairs. Must also perform CAN‑BUS & J1939 low‑voltage system troubleshooting & repair.
  • Understand how to identify high‑voltage hazards.
  • Maintain records of all maintenance work completed on vehicles including parts and supplies used. Ensure that work orders are completed properly and accurately.
  • Maintain parts usage records and order repair parts from designated suppliers. Assist Parts Department with identifying warranty components.
What our ideal candidate looks like
  • Must have at least 3 years' experience performing electric vehicle or equipment maintenance.
  • Must be able to enter and exit the driver's compartment of the truck and/or behind cab using normally available footholds and handholds.
  • Must provide own hand tools.
  • Perform DOT inspections.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc.).
Working Conditions
  • Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.
  • Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, diesel fumes and noise.
  • Exposure to chemicals, oils, greases or other irritants.
  • Access to any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance.
  • Ability to move and position heavy objects.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel and crawl to repair vehicles.
  • Ability to work outside in various weather conditions.
