Role Description This full-time Field Service Technician role is a hybrid position based in Windsor, CT, with some work-from-home flexibility for administrative and remote support tasks. Day-to-day responsibilities include installing, commissioning, and calibrating Tsugami machine tools at customer facilities, as well as performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and control issues. The Field Service Technician will diagnose equipment problems, replace or repair components, and verify proper operation to minimize customer downtime.

The role also involves providing on-site and remote technical support, training customer personnel on proper use and care of equipment, and documenting service activities, parts usage, and recommendations. Frequent local and regional travel to customer locations is expected, along with close collaboration with application engineers, sales teams, and customer support staff.

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, with experience servicing CNC machine tools, industrial equipment, or similar electro-mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, electrical schematics, mechanical diagrams, and equipment manuals.
  • Solid troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, including root-cause analysis for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control-related issues.
  • Working knowledge of CNC controls and programming basics (e.g., G-code, offsets, tooling), and familiarity with precision measurement tools.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts and provide user training.
  • Strong organization and time management, including accurate documentation of service work, parts usage, and follow-up actions.
  • Ability to work independently in the field, manage travel schedules, and adapt to changing priorities and customer needs.
  • Comfort with using laptops, diagnostic software, and standard office tools to support remote troubleshooting and reporting.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regularly to customer sites; ability to lift and move equipment components as needed.
  • Relevant technical education or experience, such as an associate degree in electronics, mechatronics, mechanical engineering technology, or equivalent work experience; prior CNC or machine tool service experience is highly beneficial.
