Software Development Consultant, Java​/Angular​/Azure

Opportunity

This senior technical leader focuses on highly visible, complex, and critical business priorities. The role involves forecasting, planning, delivering, enabling, and supporting key information technology components within the organization’s architecture. The leader sets direction and guides teammates through complex requirements, processes, and procedures to optimize system performance and efficiencies while balancing technical and organizational goals.

• Serves as the highest‑level technical expert, resolving systems integration, compatibility, and performance issues across multiple platforms.
• Provides feasibility analysis on potential projects and builds and maintains systems aligned with critical business strategies.
• Assesses business and organizational implications of key application technology alternatives to recommend appropriate strategic action.
• Facilitates continuous process improvements within the team and determines organizational impact of software maintenance issues.
• Integrates activities with business units, collaborating to ensure project costs and schedules are properly estimated and controlled.
• Defines programming standards for the development team and manages, guides, builds, and grooms development resources.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Eight or more years of software engineering and development, with at least five years in technical leadership.
• In‑depth analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience working independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Hands‑on experience across multiple platforms/technologies including Java, JEE, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, REST/JSON, event‑driven technologies, and RDBMS performance tuning.
• Experience with large‑scale integrated online RDBMS across multiple hardware and software platforms.
• Experience with new computing architectures and networked computing structures.
• Extensive experience implementing industry web security standards such as SSO, SAML, JWT, OAuth, and OWASP.
• Two to four years building applications in Azure.
• One to two years building feature‑rich customer‑facing web applications using Angular or other JavaScript frameworks.
• Good understanding of SCRUM/agile methodology.
• Excellent communication skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent; master’s degree preferred.
• Experience in the financial services industry is a plus.
• Familiarity with technology stack:
  Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, REST, JSON, OpenAPI, Open Shift (preferred), Azure or other cloud platform, Angular, Git Hub, 12‑factor principles, CI/CD with Jenkins, TDD, monitoring tools, and Oracle or cloud‑native databases.

Annual base salary range: $117,880 – $147,350 USD. In addition to base salary, Voya offers incentive opportunities (annual cash incentives, sales incentives, and/or long‑term incentives) based on role and performance objectives.
