Carex is partnering with a Manufacturing industry partner to find an experienced Product Designer who will design, develop, and enhance commercial industrial products, components, and systems that meet performance, quality, and manufacturing requirements. This role works closely with engineering, sales, marketing, operations, and cross-functional stakeholders to bring innovative product concepts from initial planning through production and customer delivery. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience designing injection molded plastic products, strong CAD expertise, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
WhatYou'll Do
- Evaluate and analyze product requirements, objectives, constraints, and performance expectations.
- Assist in developing technical and functional specifications for mechanical products and components.
- Identify appropriate materials, manufacturing processes, and design solutions that align with product requirements and cost objectives.
- Maintain injection mold tooling status documentation and injection mold processing spreadsheets.
- Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, manufacturing instructions, and engineering drawings.
- Utilize Solid Works and other design and modeling tools to create mechanical parts, assemblies, and conceptual product designs.
- Develop innovative product concepts that can be effectively and efficiently manufactured.
- Conduct simulations, prototype testing, and product evaluations to assess safety, reliability, functionality, and performance.
- Support plastic processing activities on injection molding equipment as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Manage projects from concept development and scope definition through production implementation and customer delivery.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience designing injection molded plastic products.
- Working knowledge of injection molding principles and plastic manufacturing processes.
- Proven project management experience leading products from initial planning through customer delivery.
- Proficiency with Solid Works, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Illustrator.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and technical problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Team-oriented mindset with a collaborative and adaptable approach.
- Willingness to learn new technologies, processes, and manufacturing methods.
