Job Summary

Responsible for supervising and coordinating activities for an assigned functional area, which includes monitoring daily productivity/output by Key Performance Indicators (KPIs); in partnership with management, defines resource needs and works within budget and staffing parameters to meet business objectives. Ensures the accuracy and integrity of inventory/merchandise movement by monitoring SIMS/AS-400 system applications. Monitors team members’ productivity and work quality, and manages performance using the tools available including progress summaries, retraining, job performance assessment, performance improvement plan and other disciplinary actions as needed.

Ensures compliance with all safety programs and fosters a strong culture of safety in the functional area.

SHIFT – Sunday through Thursday – 6:30 pm start time

Job Responsibilities
  • Supervises a group of team members in a designated functional area of the Distribution Center, monitoring productivity and work quality and managing performance through progress summaries, retraining, job performance assessments, performance improvement plans, and other disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Mentors team members through on‑the‑job training, collaborates with the DC Trainer on new employee orientation and training checklists, conducts 15‑minute Observe, Coach, and Recognize (OCR) sessions, and assists in developing training curricula.
  • Conducts Management‑by‑Walking‑Around (MBWA) to ensure safety, address concerns, communicate essential information, and enforce distribution‑center guidelines.
  • Establishes and cultivates morale and engagement, encourages participation in workplace activities and events, and directs positive communication with cross‑functional teams.
  • Enters daily performance forecasts into the DC productivity/efficiency report (e.g., DC Big Boy), updates system applications, and utilizes KPI, DC Balancing, and flow reports to manage daily functional area performance.
  • Ensures compliance with Centers of Excellence SOPs for applicable functional areas.
  • Advocates and participates in continuous‑improvement culture, especially LEAN initiatives, to improve processes and eliminate waste.
  • Measures compliance with performance standards and directs corrective actions by team members and equipment to maintain or exceed required levels.
  • Maintains required records for team members, equipment, and KPIs.
  • Participates in administrative activities, including defining resource needs and managing budget and staffing parameters, and oversees daily staffing by monitoring vacations, turnover, and volume.
  • Handles team‑member concerns through reporting, follow‑up, investigation, and disciplinary processes.
  • Promotes a safe environment and complies with Walgreens and government safety, environmental, handling, packaging, and related regulations.

Basic

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 1 year of experience collaborating/leading team projects, OR High School/GED and at least 4 years of experience collaborating/leading team projects, OR High School/GED and United States Armed Forces or equivalent experience demonstrating leadership skills.
  • At least 1 year of experience assisting management with assignment of work and responsibilities to coworkers, and/or other managerial tasks (e.g., monitoring work, taking attendance).
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite.
  • Willing to work any shift.
  • Experience identifying operational issues, recommending, and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships within a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 1 year of experience working in a distribution center or production environment.
