The Nurse Practitioner at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in clinic and long-term care settings under the direction of a physician preceptor. This role involves assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients while providing education on health, disease processes, and wellness to patients and their families. The Nurse Practitioner must demonstrate strong clinical competence, effective communication skills, and the ability to work independently while adhering to established standards and regulations.
Responsibilities- Assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients in the Clinic and/or Long Term Care setting according to the scope of practice outlined by the Board of Nursing, approved protocols, and national standards of practice as directed by the physician preceptor.
- Provides patients and/or family members with education related to the disease process, health, and wellness.
- Serves as a resource for community agencies as appropriate.
- Ensures timely and accurate documentation of patient status and patient care activities including treatments, procedures, and medications prescribed.
- Participates in a variety of health care education activities.
- Maintains clinical competence and keeps abreast of changes in medical management.
- Education
Master's Degree in Nursing required;
PhD Doctorate Degree preferred. - Licenses and Certifications
Relevant current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner and any required certifications. - Work Experience
1-3 years of related experience. - Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
Maintains working knowledge of skills and current technology; able to interact with a patient population of all ages; capable of working without close supervision and exercising independent judgment; strong organizational, communication, and patient confidentiality skills; professional demeanor at all times.
