Dietitian; HR Pediatric Outpatient Casual

Role Overview

This is a Casual position meaning that the hours per week are not guaranteed although they would generally be 8-16 hours per week. The Outpatient Pediatric Dietitian role supports the Pediatric Gastroenterology team.

• Develop and implement a nutrition plan of care for all assigned patients.
• Foster continuity of care across the continuum of care.
• Continuously evaluate and monitor the effectiveness and outcomes of medical nutrition therapy intervention.
• Provide nutrition education to patients and family members on appropriate food selections and eating behaviors to accomplish patient goals.
• Manage the delivery of nutrition care services according to the site of care assigned. Participate in performance improvement.
• Mentor diet clerks and other support personnel.
• Actively assess, evaluate and maintain professional development and competency related to the competencies outlined in the position description.

Required:

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree from an accredited institution with a major in food and nutrition or dietetics.
• Registered Dietitian credentialed by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
• Licensed Dietitian within the State of Illinois.
• Maintains dietetic registration, state-required credentials and/or licensure and continuing education requirements.
• Good instructional and communication skills.
• Experience in hospital clinical dietetics preferred.

Preferred:

• Proficiency in Nutrition Focused Physical Exams.
• Previous active role with hospital or department performance improvement projects or committees.
