Supply Chain Specialist I, Logistics

At Northwestern Medicine, your role will support our patient‑first approach by managing inventory, receiving, equipment, linen, and mail logistics. You will work to exceed key process indicators, support continuous improvement initiatives, and communicate supply chain updates to clinical staff and internal customers.

Hours:

3:30 PM – 12:00 AM

• Follow standard work and methodologies around inventory, receiving, equipment, linen, and mail.
• Use Wave Mark and People Soft to maintain data integrity.
• Apply problem‑solving skills to resolve non‑complex technology or supply issues; consult Supply Chain Leadership as needed.
• Ensure daily compliance with policies and procedures.
• Assist with special projects as required.
• Support MDI and daily huddles.
• Order and deliver supplies and linen based on par levels; notify management of shortages.
• Conduct audits of supplies, linen, and equipment to ensure inventory accuracy.
• Document discrepancies, expirations, shortages, or overstock; communicate findings and support corrective actions.
• Answer user calls identifying supply needs.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area; promote safety by following proper lifting and equipment use.
• Report equipment repairs and all safety hazards to supervisor.
• Notify supervisor of schedule impediments or deficiencies; proactively address observed issues.
• Build relationships with hospital personnel while protecting patient confidentiality.
• Use organizational resources efficiently.
• Manage work schedule to complete tasks on time.
• Contribute to continuous improvement opportunities.
• Participate in cost‑reduction, process streamlining, and service enhancement efforts.
• Maintain a friendly, professional demeanor and appearance.
• Provide accurate information and timely updates to patients and customers.
• Offer directions to patients and customers.
• Use effective service recovery skills to resolve problems.
• Demonstrate teamwork across departments.
• Communicate effectively, respect diverse opinions, and acknowledge others’ contributions.

• High School Diploma or equivalent; or at least two years of relevant work experience.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Effective communication with patients, visitors, and staff.
• Computer literate; ability to learn various programs.
• Independently solve problems under pressure.
• Good organizational skills.
• Critical thinking ability.

• Two years’ experience in a hospital or healthcare environment.
• Associate’s degree in a related field.
