Job Summary:
The Welder is responsible for performing high-quality welding and fabrication on aerospace components in a contract manufacturing environment. This role requires strong technical skill in TIG and MIG welding, the ability to interpret blueprints, and a commitment to precision and quality standards. The Welder works closely with production and engineering teams to ensure parts are manufactured accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with customer and industry requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up welding machines, tools, materials, and components for fabrication and assembly.
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to ensure accurate welds and part dimensions.
- Perform TIG and MIG welding on aluminum, steel, and stainless steel to meet aerospace standards.
- Execute fit-ups and layouts to ensure proper alignment and weld integrity.
- Inspect welded components to verify conformance with specifications and quality requirements.
- Operate fabrication equipment, including Bridgeport machines, grinders, cutting torches, saws, and plasma torches.
- Create and maintain identification tags for parts to support workflow and traceability.
- Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs on welding equipment and machinery.
- Ensure compliance with quality systems and departmental standards.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, including securing tools and equipment at the end of each shift.
- Collaborate with team members and participate in meetings to support production goals and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in TIG and MIG welding.
- Experience welding aluminum, steel, and stainless steel.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
- Experience operating fabrication equipment such as Bridgeport machines, plasma torches, and cutting tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a production environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in aerospace or high-precision fabrication environments.
- Familiarity with quality systems and industry standards.
- Experience with complex weld assemblies and tight tolerance requirements.
- Willingness to support overtime or varying production needs as required.
- Shop floor environment within a climate-controlled facility.
- Exposure to welding equipment, heat, noise, and moving machinery.
- Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- May require standing for extended periods and handling materials and equipment.
